The European CSR Directive refers to the EU’s efforts to promote corporate social responsibility.

This directive obliges certain large companies to disclose information about social, environmental, and human rights-related matters in their corporate reporting. The goal is to increase transparency about how companies manage their social and environmental responsibilities.

To support the implementation of CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), 12 ESR Standards (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) have been developed. These standards aim to ensure that companies in the EU report comparable and reliable sustainability information.

The 12 ESRS cover 81 disclosure requirements which collectively contain approximately 1,100 data points.
